At the heart of every competitive and fair game in the Victorian Sunday Cricket Association (VSCA) stands a dedicated team of umpires. They are more than just officials on the field—they are ambassadors of the game’s values: respect, integrity, and fairness.

With a proud legacy of over 84 years, the VSCA has grown into a thriving multicultural cricket community, and our umpires play a critical role in upholding the spirit and standards of the competition. Each Sunday, across more than 35 clubs, it is the umpire’s presence that ensures matches run smoothly, safely, and in accordance with the Laws of Cricket and VSCA by-laws.

We’re Always Looking for New Umpires!

Whether you’re an experienced official or simply someone with a love for cricket and a good eye for the game, the VSCA offers a welcoming environment to get involved. Many of our current umpires started as players or volunteers some still balance both roles.

The association also hosts regular workshops, rule updates, and pre-season briefings to ensure all umpires are confident and well prepared for their duties. Attendance at umpire meetings and dedicated training sessions is very important.
